About the Maker
Marion Elliott Profile Collage Tinsmiths Ledbury

Marion Elliot is a designer and printmaker who works mainly in paper mediums. Marion uses printmaking techniques to create densely textured papers which she then uses in her detailed collage work.

Marion has a great love of folk and vernacular art, taking inspiration from motifs such as typography, tattoos, fairgrounds, typography, hand painted signs, shop fronts, religious icons and workers guilds banners.

Her career began in London working as a writer, stylist art director for clients such as F & W Media, Hachette, David & Charles, Hallmark, IPC and national magazines. Marion has produced 25 books on design related subjects including paper engineering and textiles and her work has been exhibited in the UK, USA and Japan.

Marion currently works as a freelance illustrator and teaches on the BA Illustration course at Hereford College of Arts.

An original papercut collage inspired by artworks and artifacts spotted in the Fry Gallery exhibition, ‘Fry’s Popular Delights’. Handcut design by Shropshire artist, Marion Elliot.

With a uniquely decorated, acrylic-glazed wooden frame, and a plain, white mount, as shown in the second image.

One of a collection of one-off, intricately detailed, papercut collages created by Marion for Tinsmiths’ ‘Making Good’ exhibition, Summer 2026. The collection depicts rural crafts and working lives.
